This afternoon the CAIRNS director traveled from our office in Lacreek District of Pine Ridge Reservation to Rapid City where Project Solutions, Inc. had invited him to conduct a four-hour training for its staff. The session, “Basic Background for Working in Reservations,” was organized into seven topics: American Indians Have Been Here a Long, Long Time; American Indians are Plurals; Tribes are Political Entities Higher Than States; American Indians Have Lost Nearly All Their Land, Tribes are Different Than American Indian Persons, and Language Is Sort of Revolutionary.
