Twenty for Twenty: Reservations
Monday, December 18, 2023
This week’s CAIRNS Etanhan Wotanin column is the first in a series of fun and educational offerings in celebration of the beginning of our 20th year as a nonprofit organization, which was founded on the winter solstice, December 21, 2004. The series is called “Twenty for Twenty” and this first one features the nine American Indian reservations whose current lands were originally small parcels of much larger treaty lands in 1851, 1858, 1867, and 1868. Since November 2, 1889, these reservations also share most or all of their borders with the state of South Dakota. The column, “Twenty for Twenty: Reservations,” can be read now by clicking here, or later this week in the Lakota Times newspaper.
