This week’s CAIRNS Etanhan Wotanin column gives an overview of the training that CAIRNS conducted for Teach for America on Saturday.  The conclusion is that “choosing your words carefully can be revolutionary.” The column, “Do You Want to be a Revolutionary?” can be read now by clicking here, or later this week in the Lakota Times newspaper. One of the four key points of the training session was titled “American Indians have lost nearly all their land.” To illustrate that this process is still ongoing, we shared letters from the Assistant States Attorney of South Dakota with the Bennett County States Attorney that illustrate illegal strategies used to try to prevent tribes and tribal citizens from returning their deeded land in Pine Ridge Reservation to Indian Trust status.
