“Prayers in Pieces” is the title of the poem Mabel Picotte wrote for the upcoming CAIRNS educational art exhibit, The Gift. The poem is for Tapa Wankayeyapi, one of the seven “gifts” that Black Elk said the White Buffalo Woman foretold would be associated with the sacred pipe. Above is the first stanza of Mabel’s poem.
