“Keeping the Soul” is the title of the poem Barton Brewer wrote for the upcoming CAIRNS educational art exhibit, The Gift. The poem is for Wanagi Yuhapi, one of the seven “gifts” that Black Elk said the White Buffalo Woman foretold would be associated with the sacred pipe. Above is the first stanza of Bart’s poem.
